A Day at the Lake by Bob Stahlbush
THOMPSON, CT — This has to be one of the highlights of our club’s summer activities and we’ve been anticipating it for what seemed like ages. Fran and I were so disappointed we couldn’t make it last year. Of course I’m talking about the yearly outing at Ken and Carol’s home on Quaddick Lake in Connecticut. This year it

Crescent Park Cruise Night by Bill Bzdula
As part of our roaming Friday cruise nights resurrected by our new President — no, the other one — we ventured to the remains of the old Crescent Amusement Park in Riverside, RI.
For those of you not familiar with the idea, rather than meet every Friday night in the boon docks commonly referred to a

The summer seems to have flown by. It’s now September and we are hoping to stretch the driving season through the fall.
Our Friday night cruises have been well attended. I hope everyone has enjoyed our roaming cruises. Every third Friday we meet at a different location in the state. This was to allow all our me

Oakland Beach a Perfect ‘10’!
by Eve Beauchamp
OAKLAND BEACH, RI — Kudos to the Prez for picking that night and venue! The weather, warm and balmy, the scene with sailboats gliding by, the water gently waving, the seafood at Iggy’s, and our LBCs and their owners, all perfect 10s. Of course any warm evening by the water is a bonus.
There we

Back to Quaddick Lake Aug. 7
Ken and Carol Ryley have invited the club to join them on Saturday, August 7th at their house on Quaddick Lake. This is an all-day event beginning at 10 a.m.-ish and open to all club members who want to show up. Bring your swimsuit, food (something to cook and share is good). Hopefully there will be sun as there is plenty of water and boats and floats available

A Ride of Discovery by Bob Stahlbush
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — You would be hard pressed to come up with a better early spring day than the one we were treated to when we visited Hot Rides in East Providence on March 20th. The early morning temperature was in the mid-50s but warmed up into the 70s la

Was I Dumb? by Bill Bzdula
In the early ’60s Uncle Sam felt it necessary to transfer me to Key West, Florida, for some specialized training. Jeez, was it that long ago? So here I was in sunny Key West, young, single, average looking, almost broke and not what you would call anatomically endowed. Accepting those facts my future love life certainly looked dim. The question I ask

Our LBCs were made to be driven, and it’s nice get in a change of scenery now and then. That was the impetus to visit different locations on our regular Friday Cruise Nights. The Gazebo in Scituate will still be our “home base” but we will be visiting other locations and we hope to see more membe
